Electronic Poker is a favored game that usually will be played in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be "dealt" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced bettors are agile enough to select the most profitable ones each and every instance.

As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player a chance to double their wins, in which case a further game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
